Maine Coon Cats

I fell in love with the Maine Coon Cat while serving our country in the U.S. Air Force. I acquired my first Maine Coon Cat in Kennebunkport, Maine in 1980. I decided I would start a breeding program in 1987 and never looked back. I established Syracoon in 1987 named after my beloved hometown of Syracuse, New York.

I was a single mom for a long time before I met the love of my life. After marrying Erik, who I met while working in the Forenscis field, we established the Furensics cattery. It has proven to be a very good merger.

I have proudly shown my cats exclusively in CFA since 1980 and we have been very successful. One of the most extradordinary facts of our show achievements is that my first bred/owned and shown Grand Champion was a solid black named GC, Syracoon's MC Hammer U Cant Touch Dis (my kids named him), our first Regional Winner was also a solid black named GP,RW, Syracoon's Harlem Nocturne and our first National Winner was GP,NW, Furensics Necromancy, yup, another solid black!

We celebrated our 50th Grand Champion this season with GC, Syracoon New Years Eva. She is a beautiful silver patched tabby with white and is a National winning kitten this year. I am proud of all the cats that have shared my life. I am also thankful to all the breeders who trusted me with cats/kittens to establish what we have today. I know how precious they are to us. I hope I have made them proud.

I am honored to be the Maine Coon Cat Breed Council Secretary and am thankful to have the opportunity to serve the Maine Coon Cat breeders of CFA.

Sincerely,
Alexis Mitchell
