MAINE COON BREED COUNCIL NEWSLETTER JAN. 2006With many members and new Maine Coon breeders attending the meeting at the International Show, we had a wonderful and productive meeting. Our meeting was held Friday in the showhall about one hour before judging finished. A great time was had by all who attended the Rainbow Pizza Friday evening, including great food and drink. The bulk of the meeting consisted of discussion on the proposed color class re-alignments for our breed. Geree Martin gave a very informative presentation and led that discussion. She had a large chart to help everyone see progressions of colors (dominates-recessives-dilutes). This chart, in smaller version was given out to all. Please note that on the chart we have not included the Tabbies or Tabbies and whites as they will remain the same in our color classes. Enclosed you will find this chart. Also enclosed you will find Geree’s report, as well as the proposed color class re-alignments. Please notice that only colors that are changed or added have descriptions. These changes WILL NOT affect the Solids, Tabbies, or Tabbies & Whites. Please take time and carefully look at these changes and if you have suggestions, pass them along to me and/or Geree. Grace Ann Cox did an outstanding job with giving our Breed Booth a new look. There we many wonderful comments about the booth, and the spectators stopped there for a long time looking at the photos and asking questions. I thought perhaps we might win an award, but maybe next year with a little revision, we will. Thanks, Grace Ann. Thanks to Betsy Gaither, our Treasurer for keeping our financial records straight. She reported that we have $805.11! This is great news. We really appreciate what you do for us, Betsy. Thanks to Nan Moses for her health committee report. Please find it enclosed. Thanks, Nan for your watchful eye on our Maine Coons. We will again this year be doing the awards for the Top 10 Maine Coons in Championship, Kittens, & Premiership. This includes award booklets. If you think you may have a cat in the running for one of these awards, please be getting your photos now so you will have plenty of time to get them to us and have your photo included in the award booklet. Our ballot results are as follows: Silver Tabby & White Color Class (including vans) 82 YES 1 NO Red Tabby & White Color Class (including vans) 82 YES 1 NO Black & White Color Class (including vans) 74 YES 8 NO Siberian Breed have an effect on the MC Cats 35 YES 45 NO THANKS FOR VOTING! Respectfully submitted, Martha Auspitz MCBC SEC |
